Golrang Group’s Innovation Maturity Model:The Beginning of a New Chapter in Organizational Innovation

In today’s business landscape, innovation is discussed more than ever. Yet one fundamental question remains: How can innovation move beyond a corporate buzzword and become a measurable, scalable competitive advantage?

In response to this question, Golrang Ventures opened a new chapter in its development journey by developing, designing, and implementing the first cycle of the Golrang Group Innovation Evolution Model. Based on a systematic literature review and an examination of global benchmarks, the model was designed to provide a shared language and a precise analytical tool for Iran’s largest private-sector industrial group.

The Golrang Innovation Maturity Model is a context-specific framework designed to examine and interpret how innovation actually takes shape across Golrang Group companies. Rather than viewing innovation simply as the result of individual creativity or technological breakthroughs, the model approaches it as an institutional and social phenomenon shaped by the interaction of organizational structures, cultures, and networks of actors with diverse goals and values.

Innovation is assessed across three dimensions: Innovation Strategy, Innovation Process, and Innovation Outcomes.

Golrang Ventures, as the innovation arm of Golrang Group, facilitates this journey to make innovation across the Group’s companies more measurable, manageable, and scalable, enabling the organization to move forward with greater confidence toward alignment with international standards and the realization of its global ambition; namely, entering the Fortune 500 by 2030.

The Innovation Ecosystem Development Department at Golrang Ventures has taken a practical approach to reviewing leading international frameworks for assessing innovation maturity and examining high-quality global lessons and practices. As a result, the Golrang Innovation Maturity Model is not only aligned with global benchmarks, but also adapted to Golrang’s organizational culture and internal corporate structure, turning it into a practical mechanism for measuring and advancing innovation.

This journey requires strategic discipline in allocating resources to innovation projects, scaling innovation, strengthening process innovation, and embedding a culture of organizational learning.

The model helps Golrang Group tell its innovation story through reliable data and a credible framework, identify and optimize differences and similarities in innovation capacity across its companies, and direct innovation investment toward the projects with the greatest potential impact.

In the near future, through iterative cycles of learning and action based on the Lean Startup approach, the data generated by the model will be translated into actionable insights through charts, tables, and management dashboards. This will help narrow the gap between diagnosis and execution and support the continuous advancement of innovation across Golrang Group companies.

In the year 1404 (2025–2026), the model was piloted across 16 companies within Golrang Group. The companies included Tara Trade and Technology Development, Pakan Plastkar, Pakshoo Industrial Group, FaraTejarat Zardkuh, Abian Pharmed, Marinasun Cellulose Industries, Ofogh Kourosh Chain Stores, Varian Pharmed, Fannavaran Eniac Rayaneh, Novin Saffron, Kourosh E-Commerce Development Company (Okaala), Kilos Food Industrial Complex, Golrang System, Kourosh Dried Fruits and Legumes Industry Company, Irandar, and Master Foodeh Food Industries.

These 16 companies were the participants studied during the first phase of the initiative.
