Golrang Ventures’ Second Trust: Focusing the Technology Webinar
Golrang Ventures’ second event was held on January 9, 2023. This event, titled “Technology Trust,” was held online and hosted approximately 300 technology enthusiasts from across all Golrang Group’s sub-holdings.
This webinar was held in several segments with the aim of introducing global technology trends, centered around GITEX 2022.
In the first segment, Ms. Solmaz Sadeghnia discussed the history of GITEX and its ecosystem.
With a history spanning more than four decades, the GITEX trade show added “GLOBAL” to its name in 2022 to highlight its status as a global event, bringing together technology companies, startups, speakers, and participants from more than 140 countries.
The second segment covered six technology trends showcased at GITEX. These included communications and 5G networking technologies, the future of transportation and its environmental impacts, cybersecurity technology and cyber resilience, augmented analytics and artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and cloud computing technology.
In the third segment, GITEX 2022’s startup competition, titled “SUPERNOVA PITCH CHALLENGE,” was introduced, followed by a review of some of the sessions held at this global exhibition.
In the final segment, Ali Solouk, Technical Product Manager at Ford, shared global experiences in leveraging megatrends.
One of the megatrends is electric vehicles. Today it is agreed upon globally that electric vehicles will experience significant growth. However, Ford’s management was initially opposed to producing these vehicles due to their expensive technology and batteries, as well as their higher production costs compared to gasoline and diesel vehicles.
However, some of the company’s managers took a significant risk and embraced this megatrend. I think one of the key messages of this presentation is that managers should recognize the importance of emerging global trends and take them into account in their decision-making.
The next megatrend was the emergence of connected vehicles. Once again, Ford’s managers took a risk and accepted a $700 increase in the price of each vehicle to install a modem in the cars. They believed that this would enable them to collect customer data via the internet and maintain continuous communication with customers through an application called FordPass. Through this app, drivers can communicate with their vehicles; for example, they can start or turn off their cars, adjust the temperature, or even request that their vehicle be ready and waiting outside their home at their desired temperature before they get in. When a vehicle requires repairs or servicing, data is sent to the company through the app, and a warning notification is sent to the vehicle owner.
When it is time to change the oil, brake pads, or other brake components, we send one of our colleagues to provide the required services. Throughout this process, the vehicle owner earns points that can be redeemed for purchasing other products.
Another trend that Ford and many other major automakers are currently focusing on is autonomous/self-driving cars vehicles.
