Golrang Ventures joined forces with teams active in the region in order to develop its innovation ecosystem and transfer knowledge to the southern regions of Iran, especially the Makran coast. One of these teams was Mammoth Urban Innovation Studio, which, with 20 years of experience in the country and abroad in the field of urban innovation management, urban architecture, design, branding, visual identity and facilitation, is currently working as an innovation designer for the development of the Makran coast and a strategic innovation consultant for the Qeshm Free Zone. One of the current activities in these regions is holding co-creation events, and Golrang Ventures also participated in this event by mentoring and training capable individuals and teams.
What is co-creation?
Co-creation is a type of interactive design event in which motivated and creative participants with a focus on planning and design (architecture, urban planning, green space, environment, industrial design, graphics, sculpture, painting, etc.) come together and, while learning about the important topics of this course, create a work with the help of event mentors. Co-creation Makran Coasts has focused on developing local businesses in the field of empowering indigenous and innovative businesses on the Makran Coasts. The organizer of the co-creation events is Mammoth Urban Innovation Studio, which is currently operating on the Makran Coasts and the Qeshm Free Zone.
Mentoring and training
The 54-hour co-creation events include various parts of teaching workshops, mentoring, and judging teams. The focus of co-creation is on developing local and indigenous businesses in each region, and Golrang Ventures has also been with the Mammoth team in training and mentoring teams in the cities of Minab and Chabahar.
The duties of co-creation mentors include guiding teams in the process of innovative thinking and idea creation, guiding teams in the planning and design process, accompanying teams in field studies, conducting online and in-person expert discussions with team members, determining evaluation indicators, guiding text and graphic documents, and finally guiding the presentation to investors.
Results
These events were held between December and January with the participation of teams, companies and capable individuals from the region at the Minab Higher Education Complex and the Chabahar Free Zone Free University. As a result of the activities of the participating teams in these events, a total of thirty innovative ideas designed based on the capacities and advantages of this region have been presented. These ideas have been formed and developed with the support and participation of expert mentors from the country’s social innovation ecosystem in the field of innovative models of local product production, design of sales platforms, development of experiential tourism, creation of value in local arts and crafts, design of local business development platforms, game development, etc., and the selected teams have been put on the path of acceleration with the support of effective organizations in the region.
